On 9 October 2024, LaCima — the Laboratory of Computing in Research, Methodology and Analytics of the School of Statistical and Computer Engineering at Universidad Nacional del Altiplano — was formally established.
The group emerges from the FINESI Junior Researchers programme with five founding members: Eng. Vladimiro Ibañez Quispe as coordinator, Eng. Fred Torres Cruz as co-coordinator, and students Dina Maribel Yana Yucra, Richar Andre Vilca Solorzano and Renato Quispe Vargas.
Its research lines span natural language processing with an emphasis on Quechua and Aymara, high-performance computing, causal inference models and data analytics for the sustainability of the Altiplano.
